Peak Your Garden for Summer with ProGrass and PowerPro
As we move into the season where we spend the most time outdoors, it’s the perfect moment to ensure the exterior of our homes looks its best. Summer is when outdoor activities and events are in full swing, and it’s also the time when we want our lawns, shrubs, plants, hedges, patios, driveways, and borders to be in top condition. There’s no better sight than seeing children, pets, family, and guests enjoying themselves in a garden you can be proud of.
Achieving this, as we know, takes time and effort, and with the demands of modern life, it can be a challenge. So why not consider getting some help from ProGrass and/or PowerPro? By letting them share the workload—especially with lawns, patios, and driveways—you’ll free up valuable time to focus on other parts of the garden or simply enjoy relaxing outdoors yourself.
ProGrass Advice
At this time of year, grass is growing vigorously, but you may notice lighter-coloured patches on the lawn. These are often mistaken for invasive grasses, but in many cases, it’s simply the lawn trying to regenerate by seeding. These areas send out long, spindly shoots and appear lighter green because they’re working harder. This is a normal and temporary condition. You can help reduce its appearance by raking the seed heads up into the air before mowing, so they’re caught by the mower blades.
Watch out for fungal infections, such as red thread, which are common at this time of year and can leave your lawn looking shabby.
We’re also seeing increased activity from leatherjackets (crane fly larvae), which feed on grass roots and can cause serious lawn damage if left untreated.
When it comes to mowing, our advice is: if you want an even, green sward that will better withstand dry conditions, avoid cutting too short. Instead, mow little and often, keeping a minimum height of 25–30mm.

PowerPro Advice
Those pesky spring weeds are already beginning to push through block paving and patio slabs. Pulling or digging them out is backbreaking work and often ineffective, as the roots can remain behind—leading to a repeat problem. We recommend applying a non-selective herbicide to target the weeds down to the root and prevent regrowth.
When pressure washing, take care not to damage the surfaces. It’s easy to cause harm if you’re not careful.
Applying a high-quality sealant will help inhibit future weed growth and reduce ongoing maintenance.
